“To blend in is to disappear,
to trade your voice for one less clear.
To live in a cage and call it choice
is the greatest trick, the cruelest voice.
To wrap yourself in velvet chains,
and still believe your truth remains…”
Honouring traditions but letting go what doesn’t serve us anymore. In this lies a fine balance. When does armour protect one and when does it stand in the way of evolving. Can there be authority without domination? Power without violence? Honour without hierarchy? Are we free if we allow others to choose who we are?
This collection explores power and structure, and softness in symbiosis rather than opposition. The exaggerated, voluminous shoulders and sculptural silhouettes create protective exoskeletons of ceremonial armour. Armour that is more complex and reimagined through draped tailoring that allows freedom for motion, fluidity, and softness. Masculine and feminine codes are blurred and merged into one. Military references like patch pockets, belts, epaulettes meet kimono-like wraps, sarong drapes, and cocoon silhouettes. The proportions challenge the classic fit and shape, turning restriction into freedom.
This collection distort the traditional idea of uniform. Thus creating the highest form of an oxymoron --- a uniform that individualises. A paradox, garments meant to homogenise yet creating a sense of celebration of one's identity.
